It's almost an unfortunate name,
but it was intentional when first coined: unlike web downloads,
the recipient does not fetch or request the file.
But the acronym works.
UFT mimics IBM "NJE" networking,
but without the need for multiple topologies.
While there are numerous implementations of IBM NJE,
particularly such as use TCP/IP for transport, the nature
of an NJE network requires topological design and management.
As with NJE, file transfer via UFT
does not require a user login on the target system.
It's similar to email in that regard, but is not tuned
primarily for correspondence. Sending files via UFT
is dramatically easier than sending via email and does not require
the level of infrastructure as email.
